Environmental Monitoring Using Wireless Sensor Networks

This paper provides a brief overview of the wireless sensor networks technology for environmental monitoring applications. The paper discusses a number of open research issues in designing such applications. Emphasis is given to issues relating to data analysis specifically handling the potentially huge volume of sensor measurements. Furthermore, we address the problem of area coverage to minimize the probabilities of undetected events or false alarms.
